June 8 to June 12, 2026
Art activities may include drawing, watercolor painting, collage, Papier-mache, and more. Some activities will be open-ended and experimental, others will be guided with specific instructions. Younger children will have ways to make their activities simpler, while older children will have opportunties to make theirs more complex.
June 29 to July 3
All types of games! Ms. Olyvia will guide us in physical games, some competitive and some cooperative. When we’re tired out, we’ll play some board games, learn some card games, and invent a game or two!
July 20 to July 24
Those of you who already know Ms. Whaley know she collects songs like a crow collects shiny things. Each morning will begin with unison songs, rounds, and partner songs. We will play games that develop music skills while having fun. We will also play some ukulele every day! If you already own one, you can bring it. We will also have some that you may rent for the week.
Each day we will learn a new dance. These are group dances, mostly from New England Dancing Masters. They are SO fun, and so good for experiencing spatial direction, responding to music, and sequences.
Every Day Fun
Each day will include theme-specific activities, physical activity, and afternoon DEAR (Drop Everything and Read).
Experienced teachers will lead all camps.
Open to students ages 7 to 14.
Jean Marie and Stella Dog
Camp Director, music and art teacher
Jean Marie Whaley has been guiding and creating music experiences for young and old for more than two decades.
Through her career as a musician and educator, she has become increasingly interested in integrating music with visual art, literature, dance, and history.
She is the Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh. She also teaches music at Raleigh Day School and through her own enterprise, Pharos Music Studio. All other time involves her daughter Bess, her dog Stella, and husband Michael in varying degrees of shenanigans and ridiculousness.
Games Teacher
Olyvia is currently the Games teacher at Raleigh Day School. She is a graduate of Wake Technical Community College and is pursuing her NC teaching license. She began working with children in 2014 as a camp counselor, and later became a nanny and tutor. Olyvia has had a special connection with children since she was young and has always known that teaching would be a career that would bring her great joy.
In her free time, she likes to be active by spending time in nature, creating art, listening to music, or tending to her plants. Olyvia also enjoys spending time with family and friends or relaxing at home with her girlfriend and 2 cats.
